Stephenie Meyers Twilight is the awesome Vampire drama taking the UK by storm.
Amazingly the saga was initially rejected by 14 agents before being published in hardback in 2005. The success of the Twilight book was phenominal and it shot straight in at number 5 in the New York Times best seller list within a month of its release before hitting the top slot later that year.
The novel went on to become the biggest selling book of 2008 and has since sold in excess of 17 million copies worldwide. It also spent over 91 weeks in the New York Times Best Seller list before being translated into 37 different languages.
In the first book of the Twilight series we are introduced to seventeen-year-old Isabella Swan, who moves to Forks from Phoenix and promptly falls in love with a vampire, star of the show and teen heart throb, Edward Cullen.
Twilight fans will have been keen to see the relationship unfold further and havent been let down with a series of follow ups by Stephenie Meyer.
The novel has been followed by New Moon as well as Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. An adaptation in film of Twilight was released in 2008 and it was a massive commercial succes which grossed in excess $382 million worldwide and was boosted by sales in North Americas DVD market further by an additional $157 million as of July 2009.
Twilight fans will be excited by the prospect of the release of the third film, Eclipse, in June 2010 which promises to live up to expectations. Stephenie Meyers imagination running away with her at her childrens swimming lessons must be one of the most succesful day dreams in history!!
